Caño Negro wildlife refuge

A full nature experience

Arenal Volcano Hike

Caño Negro is one of the most amazing places in Costa Rica for birdwatching and animal observation. This Wildlife Refuge Center is home to countless species of aquatic and migratory birds, like as herons, kingfishers, cormorants, flycatchers, and trogons in addition to tropical animals like sloths, monkeys, caiman, turtles, iguanas, bats, and a variety of exotic flora.

On the way we will travel alongside yucca, pineapple, sugar cane, and orange plantations. Once we arrive we will enjoy a welcome snack before boarding the pontoon boat for a 2 ½ hour ride through the Rio Frio Canals, in the company of our expert driver and specialized naturalist guide, with their eagle eyes to be sure you don’t miss a thing. Afterwards, we will return to the restaurant for a delicious authentic Costa Rican lunch, before returning to the hotel.
